2012 Apr 30 PM
Hey guys!
The president challenged us to read the Book of Mormon in 40 days a little while ago.  I am in Alma right now.  I love the story of the convierson of the King Lamoni and everyone else and their complete loyalty to God afterwards.  I love that after they had repented, that they had an actual fear to do the sin that they had repented of (killing in their case).  Alma 27:23, 29  Love it.  :)
This last week was good.  Federico came to church again with all of his family and his fecha for the 19th of May is for sure.  They are going to get married and they are going to get baptized.  Also, Gladys and Arnoldo are doing greatly as well.  I love them.  I told them that I am going to have changes on the 8th (it is now for sure official) and they were so sad to have me go that it really... I don´t know.  I got really sad because of it but not super sad.  Just like missing sad but a lot of it.  I love them so much.
Yeah I really feel like all of my days are just going so much faster.  It is pretty crazy to think about it.  The time is just whipping by.  It is amazing how quickly it is going.
And speaking of a different dialect, I am learning Quiche right now!  I can effectively make simple sentences in Quiche!  And my vocabulary is getting better too!  So I am very excited about that.  And no I still do not know where I am going (they don´t tell us until the actual day of changes) but all I know is that I have changes.

Shoot, I have no time today.  I will talk to you guys next week!

HEY!

That is so awesome that Dad was called as a bishop! He makes me so proud! Shoot! Even the President of the church had to approve him! And he made it! Think of it! The prophet received revelation specifically about MY father! That is awesome to think about.

Gladys´ baptism was great. It was also one of the most hectic experiences of my mission because for some reason I decided to not have a handle on everything that was happening and expect everything to just fall into place, which was a mistake that will not happen again. But she was amazing and so strong the whole time and it was just amazing. She was confirmed yesterday and on Saturday, we are planning on going over to her aldea, which is called Chirrenox, to talk to her family who also came to the baptism! I am pretty excited about that. Something that I have really realized in this area, that whether or not I have success (or baptize) does not have anything to do with me. I cannot take credit for any of it. God just prepared her perfectly and put her into our lives so that we could baptize her. I love her so much and she is such an amazing person. She is soo humble and loving and it is just great. She and her husband Arnoldo (in the foto I sent you guys) are going to be amazing members of the church. But God is good. I love Him and I know that He loves me.

Also, José Guicol went to church yesterday! After like 10 years of inactivity, he finally came to church! (again a miracle of God because there was nothing that I could have done to make him come to church). Transfers are either on the 7th or the 8th (whichever is a Tuesday).

And true to His word (1 Nephi 3:7), we were able to get the 40 contacts. It was a good experience and now I LOVE contacting. I am planning on doing a lot of divisions with missionaries when I get back to the states (by the way, did anyone notice that I completed 19 months the other day? I sure didn´t, until almost a week afterwards.)

That is amazing that Dad was called as Bishop! That is crazy awesome! Yeah, President Smith is a really great man. I love him even though I don´t know him that well. He is very, very inspired. You guys are going to activate the crap out of the ward. I am excited about that place. I won´t even recognize it when I get back.

Well, I gotta blow this joint because my time just ran out, but I love you guys!

2012 Apr 9PM

Hey Guys!

This week has been pretty good. It was kind of hard because it was Semana Santa which is a major (I'd say THE major) Catholic holiday of the year. And it is an entire week of vacation for a lot of people (and the only week of vacation for a lot of people too) so a lot of people end up going to the coast or to the beach where it is warm so that they can relax and have fun, which also means that basically nobody was in their house. But we somehow got along and found things to do the whole week. I took a lot of pictures but unfortunately so did everyone else which means that nothing is uploading. So I will have to send the pictures to you guys next week. But it was really great. It was nice to see the way that the Catholics worshiped God. There were these processions and these beautiful carpets made of different materials that they made so that the processions could walk over them. It was so pretty.

Something really great is that we have a baptismal date with Gladys for this coming Saturday at 4. So we are planning on going over to Tierra Colorada almost every day to teach her all of the things that she needs to know so that she can get baptized. Something that kind of adds a twist into the whole thing is that the president put us the goal getting 40 contacts (which means 40 appointments with people that we talk to in their houses) which would be great if we weren't having to prepare Gladys for baptism for this coming Saturday and she didn't live so far away. On Saturday, though, the president told all of the missionaries in the mission to fast so that they would be able to complete with the goal of 40 contacts and we did so I guess that we will see what happens. We are going to need a miracle for us to be able to get the goal but I guess that we will see what happens because we did fast for it. (So any prayers on your guys' part would help a lot. :) )

Also, two less actives that we have been working with for a long time came to church yesterday! Leonardo and Bernabe! They are brothers who are potentials for the mission and it would be hard but I have hope that they can do it. And they came to church yesterday! And also a family named Guicol we have been talking to a lot as well and they said that they almost came to church yesterday and that they will for sure come this coming Sunday and they even want us to come over and do a family home evening with them (this is something that is 5 months in the making since I have gotten here). So I am excited. God is blessing us so much and I am loving it! I am going to miss this ward a lot when I leave it.

Well, I don´t really know what else to say because I think that your letter must have gotten caught in cyberspace. So I will talk to you guys next week! Love you!

2012 Apr 2 PM

This week was great because God was an enormous part of it.

This last week, there were like 6 investigators who went all the way to the Stake Center (a 45 minute drive) to watch the Sunday Sessions of General Conference. That doesn´t happen. It was a complete miracle, because a lot of them were completely random and even one of our investigators who is extremely awesome brought two friends to the conference (Federico)!! He is so amazing! I love that guy! And then some other investigators who were extremely not positive who also came to conference yesterday (which means, first, that they are more positive, and second, that they may have already received an answer that it is all true!)! It was so amazing! I loved it.

And then the messages! I think that my favorite one might have been President Uchtdorf`s talk from Sunday the one about envy. I loved it. And then a 70`s talk about agency and that you cannot force yours upon anyone else without losing the spirit even if you have their best intentions in mind. So that is awesome. There were some other really good ones but I don´t have a lot of time to talk about them. Anyway, it was just a spiritual feast. I could feel the Spirit in almost all of the ways that I feel the spirit (I am learning slowly but surely how to listen and understand the Spirit)! It was amazing and I loved it.

Something that I really appreciated was actually before the conference. An Elder right before was talking to me and he told me "Elder Froelich, I just want you to know that you are an inspiration to us all." :) So that was cool. It made me feel a little bit more appreciated to my missionary peers and I liked it a lot.

Today we went to Xela to buy stuff for the month and so that is why we are writing so late. And for the same reason, we are not going to be able to get back to our house tonight which means that we are going to have the sleep with the Zone Leaders tonight (which we have had to do for the last 2 nights and I am tired of it. I just want to go back to our own area and WORK. You just can´t do that though because of the bus schedule. So tomorrow morning we are going to head up to San Francisco.

Well, I have to go

I love you guys! Have a great week!

Keep on praying for me! I need them.

Love,

Elder Froelich
