2012 July 30 PM

Hey Guys!

Yesterday my comp (he likes mentioning how much time I have a lot) said that yesterday (Sunday) was the last day of the changes, which means that this is my last change of the mission.  Crazy.  It has gone by really quickly.  But I am going to work hard for my last change.  Don´t worry about it. :)

Which brings me next to my next subject.  We were surprised to receive a call last night saying that my companion Elder Barboza has changes!  That was kind of funny to hear because he is the one who has less time in the area but revelation I guess.  I don´t know who my companion is but his name is Elder Monesterio or something (the president told me his name in my email this last week).  He told me that we are going to be able to work well together.

That sounds so exciting with all of the crazy stuff that you are mentioning about the ward right now!  Also a little bit hectic and crazy but awesome.

And the investigators are doing pretty well.  I think that we are going to have to drop about all of them but we are going to give them a good talking to and see if they really want to change their lives and be better people.

Well, I have to go.   BYE!

Hey Guys!

It was kind of weird seeing that airplane itinerary. I just looked at it in a daze for a second. It was weird but also good. It gave me more ganas to work. It is crazy that in less than 2 months, I am going to be walking in the front door after 2 years of service to God. It was kind of crazy. It is crazy to think that I am so close to going home right now. Don´t worry though. I am not going to get baggy.

This last week was good. It was kind of hard because I was getting used to a new companion and because I was kind of baggy for Elder Vaughn because we got along better than I had gotten along with anyone on my entire mission and we got to be really good friends. Plus the change that he was taken out was a surprise to everyone in the ward so all of the members had been, where did Elder Vaughn go? And then they start talking about how great of a guy that he was and it makes me baggy for him. But things are going well with me and Elder Barboza. It is always hard at first to adapt to a new form of teaching and working that you get whenever you change companions but I am getting used to it and it is getting better.

The baptism with Darinel went really well. He chose me to baptize him which was great, and we had some support from the ward as well. So that was really great to see. I bought him a white shirt so that he could use it on Sunday and he is looking really happy and his family really supportive of him to get baptized. So I am excited about that for sure.

Rigoberto, the guy who we found in the back of a pickup truck, we visited him on Saturday (which is where all of the field pictures are from). He is doing well but out of nowhere, he and his wife had a fight and she left him with their 2-year-old daughter and now he is living alone. And since they live so far away, he can´t come to church, which is hard. I feel like he really does want to progress and that he really does have good potential to be a good member but he can´t come to church because of all the things that have happened. So that is unfortunate.

Also, Victor and Mercedes (Victor is the investigator and Mercedes is the less active). They were progressing really well and Mercedes has said that no matter what that she wants to get active and get back into the church. But about 2 days ago, her mother died and so she is obviously heart-broken and her husband, Victor, has started to drink again. And because of all of this (but more than anything because of the death of her mother) they did not come to church on Sunday. We are going to visit them soon to see how they are doing and to see what we can do to help them out.

Also, Mercedes has a 20ish year old daughter, Elizabeth, who married a less active of many, many years, Alder. They are looking very, very postive as well, and Alder even has a brother in Guate who is encouraging him to come back to church and they are looking very positive and I think that they are going to want to be baptized. But because of the same (por lo mismo) they weren´t able to come to church either. So we are going to go back over there and see how they are doing. I am not really all that worried about them but I guess we will see what happens when we go over there and see how they are doing.

I think that I will be staying in this area until I leave. But I guess anything could happen. The Chapel is supposed to be done for the 28th of this month. It is looking really good so I guess that we will see what happens. I am excited for it to be done for sure.
Well, have a great week!

Hey Guys!

That is good that the fire is finally dying down.

Also, I want to congratulate and thank you guys for being such a pilas missionary family.  I would love to have a bishop like Dad here in Guatemala.  But it is good that you guys are doing such a great job over there.

That was funny to read that you guys made a paper chain for when I come back.  It is awesome that you guys are that baggy about my coming home.  It is true that it has gone by so quickly. But it has almost already come!  So that is awesome. I am not baggy or anything so don´t worry about me.  It sounds like it must be really fun having both of your daughters in the house at the same time.

Victor is doing really well.  We were not able to visit him this last week because he didn´t have time but he came to church again this last week and he told the entire priesthood class that he is going to be getting baptized.  He said next month but he is already very ready right now so I think that we are going to try to talk to him so that he can get baptized a little bit earlier.  But we will see what happens.

We are also planning a baptism for Wednesday.  So I am excited about that.  It is a kid of 9 years that I think that his parents forgot to baptize.  So we are going to do it. (Darinel)

Also, my comp, Elder Vaughn had changes the other day and he went to Nahuala.  (I have never been there so you guys may have never heard of it) and my new comp is actually an old comp.  Elder Barboza who was my comp when I was in Las Rosas in Xela came up here to Colo and is my comp here right now.  He is pretty cool.

Well, I have to go.  Have a great week!

Hey guys!

This week has been pretty awesome.

Right now we are teaching someone name Victor.  We talked to him the other day and he told us that since the day that we visited him about a month ago that he has not drank any alcohol at all.  And he told us that he wants to get baptized and that he just has to get to know the church better.  But the thing is that this ward hasn´t baptized for like 7 months.  So we just found Victor and he came to church and the whole ward has been great.  The Bishop gave him a personal lesson for Sunday School which was really cool (of which I understood almost nothing because they were speaking in Mam) and he is looking really positive.  We are planning on going with him some day this week to talk to and teach him a little bit more and get him excited to get baptized.

Also we are working on activating a less active family and after they get activated (they are progressing really well).  We are planning on baptizing their son, Darinel.  So I am excited about all of this stuff.

Also, we are getting really good at chopping wood.  So I am excited about that as well.  Before I couldn´t really do anything but now it is one of my favorite things to do.

And that is really all I can think of tell you guys because my brain is not working right now.

I will talk to you guys later!
