2011 Oct 24

Hey,

This week has been good. None of our investigators have really been coming to church these last two weeks so it looks like we might have to drop them. Which is really sad. So we are going to give them the do or die talk (the one that we given where we say that they are going to have to shape up or we are not going to be able to keep on talking to them.) So we'll see how that goes.

Our baptism, Orland Jiron, is being really pilas right now, though. He has a really great desire to share the gospel with his friends and he is really excited to get involved with the ward. We actually, even have a cita with his friend tonight in his house. So I am excited about that. He is a really good guy.

And as far as the temple open house, I don't know if we, as elders, are going to be able to go but all of the sisters in the mission are going to go do tours of the temple. I guess that the president was going to call some elders to do tours as well but he still hasn't called anyone yet. So we will see how that goes.

And once again, the letter is lame. I´m sorry, but I have to go again. J Have a great day!

Love,

Hey guys! How are you guys doing?

With the temple open house there is some curiosity but not a whole lot. Elder Fuentes came from Xela and he said that up there that there is a huge buzz about the temple and everything but in Huehue, nobody really sees or knows about it. But we are trying to help the ward so that they can invite all of their friends. The open house will be from the 11th to the 26th. And we are really excited about it.

This week was pretty cool too. There is this girl that we ran into contacting named Claire who is from the states but is here for peace corp. And we ran into her a couple of times but on Monday, right after I wrote to you guys, we ran into each other again and, long story short, I gave her a Book of Mormon! It was in Spanish but she knows Spanish really well so it shouldn't be a problem. When I gave it to her, she told me "I had been looking for a book in Spanish to read!" But she was totally prepared for the message and we gave it to her! And I am really excited to have been a tool in God´s hands. So that was fun.

Also, I was thinking this week and I came up with this:

If you let your companion or your circumstances govern your feelings, you are going to be upset all of the time. The only way that you are going to be able to be happy is by deciding to be happy, getting a happiness backbone. Also, we sometimes allow our so-called realism or efforts to be sincere, rob us of our faith in God and in his infinite power. Don´t let that happen. Never lose your faith.

Also, I was talking to Orlando and he is one of the most straightforward people that I have ever met. And he told me that I was one of the happiest missionaries that he has ever known and that my happiness is contagious and makes other people want to be around me and that is why he is giving us so many references.

AHH! I had more stories that I want to tell you but I don´t have any more time.

I love you guys!

Thanks for your prayers!

Love,

Elder Froelich

Hey Mom, guess what!! My journal is bulging right now!! As a leader a lot of times our house is the party house for when Elders can´t get back to their areas or when they need pamphlets or insecticide or baptism clothes or something and it has been commented that my journal is large. Really large! It's actually getting hard to fit the packets of new journal paper in!! Mom, are you proud of me or WHAT???

Also, this week was pretty good. Last month, we started really encouraging the zone to start doing what the president wanted them to do and we didn't have a lot of success last month because it took a little while for the changes to take effect but, now, the zone is being super blessed and we are baptizing a lot. Every month, all of the zone leaders from the entire mission get together to report their dats on how the zone did. Last month, my zone didn't do too hot but this month, I am excited about it. God is blessing us so much that it is just ridiculous. So that is cool.

The zone changes were pretty good. Almost nobody got changed from our zone because with the new program, you stay with the person that you are training for 2 changes so this change, we lost 2 elders and we got two to replace them. So nothing much really changed but it is a really good zone, though, so I am not worried about it. In this coming change, the 3 month period with your trainer ends and we are going to have a least 4 changes in the zone.

Well, I got to go. So I will talk to you guys later.

Love,

Elder Froelich

Hey Guys!

This week was pretty good. Before in this week, my companion and I were having some quiet contention that I could just not put my finger on but today he told me all of the things that were bothering him about me so now everything is going smoothly. Can I just say that I hate drama? I hate drama. It is good to not have problems with your companion but, I just want to tell each and every one of you a word of wisdom that I learned: If you hate something that someone else is doing and you know that they love you, I promise you with every fiber of my being that they do not realize that they are bothering you. In order for them to change, you need to grow some balls and tell them about it because hinting is not going to work. I promise you that it is not going to work. Just TELL them what it is that they are doing that is bothering you and they want to and will be willing to change it. But do NOT assume. It is not and will not help anyone or anything. Also, some things are not worth arguing about so just repent, deal with the fact that your companion is different than you and be quiet. Now, I'll get off my soap box and tell you guys how my week went. :-)

It went pretty miraculously well. Liliana and Nestor will have a fecha for the 20th of October and they are doing really well right now and the return missionary, Fania, has a real desire to progress as well! So that is really awesome. We have been working a lot with the less actives because that is part of the plan that Pres Bautista has for the mission and it has been going really well.

Tomorrow there are going to be changes but we are going to be losing 2 elders from the zone. We have a couple of really good ones coming in, though, so I am really excited about that.

I'm sorry that this letter is so retarded. The next one I am planning on making it better but I just don't have a lot of time this week. But I got to go. I love you guys!

Love

PS Re-try the promise of the Book of Mormon: It isn't just for people who have never gotten an answer. You can get an answer as many times as you ask.

2011 Oct 3 PM

Hey Guys!

This week has been pretty awesome.

We have been teaching the family of Hermana Fania and she has this one niece who has never been interested in even reading or praying or doing anything but now she willing to read and pray and the whole deal! So I am pretty excited about that. There is also a neighbor that we have that we just found out is a menos activa and before she wanted absolutely nothing but now, she is smiling at us and we are getting into her heart. I am convinced that she will start coming to church in the month of October They talked about how repentance is a really short process and it isn´t like Alma the Younger but, rather a lot of imperceptible changes that lead to a complete change of heart and it is definitely happening with her. It is just such a blessing to be a tool that God is using to help bring souls to Christ. I love it-it is one of the best parts of being a missionary.

Something cool is that this week we were teaching the family of the second counselor and I was just talking and trying to follow the spirit and I shared the experience with Dad and how it was really hard for a little while because he lost his job after working for Boeing for 20ish years but that you guys just had a lot of faith and trusted in God and now he has an even better job that he likes even more and is even more important.

We also found last Monday a golden investigator who just found the Book of Mormon in some bank and has been reading it. A member who works in a tienda next to where Nesto lives has also been working with him as well! And he came to both of the sessions of conference yesterday and he doesn´t work on Sunday and bunch of other stuff that make him a perfect investigator. And so that was a really good blessing.

Also, Liliana (the niece of Fania) is looking really positive as well and I am almost positive that she is going to be able to be baptized in October. :) She is kind of shy so it is hard to talk to her sometimes but she is quietly strong at the same time.

SO we are getting very blessed right now. A lot of times when I am teaching, I say stuff that I think of afterwards and I say to myself, "Hey that was pretty good. Did I say that?" And then I say to myself that I didn´t but that the spirit did through my voice.

Conference was really great too! SOo freaking powerful! I liked Boyd K Packer´s talk a lot and that he said that you will not make a major mistake without first receiving a prompting from the spirit that you should get out of there. Also, the Sunday school person who talked about how to be a better teacher. That is going to be studied for sure by me. I also liked Pres. Uchtdorf´s talk about how compared to God we are nothing but we are everything to God. That was a really powerful talk. Also, Waddell´s talk was good. He said that God knows which presidents, companions, investigators, and members we need to help us to progress and become better missionaries, father and priesthood holders and he sends us to the missions accordingly. Also, I liked Elaine S Dalton’s a lot about how to raise a daughter. If I ever have a daughter, I will study the crap out of that thing.

I found out about Francis because the Zone Leaders from Zaculeu (where I was born) called me when Francis was with them and he told me about it. It was awesome. Haha, he told me that when I was over there a year ago that he couldn´t understand anything that I said but, now, my accent isn´t perfect and I don´t get a million compliments about it but at least you can understand what I am saying.

Have a great week!

Love,

Elder Froelich
